ÃÊ·Ï Choi, Jinsook. (2018). Effects of collocational competence and small group cooperative learning on Korean university students English presentations. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 26(4), 267-285. This study aims to investigate the effects of teaching collocations and cooperative learning on the English presentation skills of Korean university students. To this end, pre and post questionnaires, collocation tests, and English presentation tests were carried out with fifteen Korean L2 learners over a period of fifteen weeks. The results showed that there was a statistically significant correlation between collocational competence and the English presentation skills of university students in terms of their use of proper transitions with logical flow and delivering effective presentations. Moreover, the result of the Wilcoxon signed rank sum test showed significant effects of depth, transitions, logical flow, and confidence variables on the cooperative learning based presentations. That is, small group cooperative learning contributed to the attainment of significantly improved presentation skills compared to the individual learning. Also the follow-up questionnaire revealed students satisfaction for both teaching collocations and cooperative learning in the English presentation course. This study implies that teaching collocations and cooperative learning should be adopted and implemented in Korean university English presentation courses. Instructional implications for university English presentation courses were also discussed.
